Help! How to use Aux Input converter?!

I have followed the instructions the program comes with but I am boggled. I bought an audio adapter to put the record player's white and red plugs into and the plug they plug into is black. where is the proper spot to stick this into on my computer? And where exactly does the record player hook from and to? It has to be the headphone jack?

Your sound card could have:

Headphone (output)
Microphone (input)
Line out (output)
Line in (input)

If it only has headphone then you cannot record with it. Use Line-in if you have all the above.
