Edit ID Tags not deleting disc field

This has been a problem in many releases and is still a problem with version 17: If information exists in the Disc field, such as 1/1 or just 1, and I delete it, the field is not cleared when closed with OK. I can clear it with foobar2000 and then Edit ID Tags reads it as cleared. If information exists in the Disc field and I change it, the field is updated correctly.

To remove a tag you have to click the [x] at the end of the line.

My goal isn't to remove the tag, just empty the field. The other tags allow empty fields.

Why would you want an empty field vs no tag? They are the same effectively.
