Neither, we use Apples own source code to create Apple lossless directly.

While on this topic can anyone tell me what is multi tagging in the mp4 id tagging?

It is how we write multiple artists, for most people the first default option is the best, only change if need compatibility with a certain player (for example my car shows the last artist as the main artist so I choose the 2nd one down).
