Re: Converting files freezes my whole system
Luckily LtData is half a planet away, and I'm three solar systems over, so we're pretty safe. Trust me .. Memtest86 has never broken anything, although it has flagged a lot of dud systems where someone saved $2 on the RAM so they could spend $200 on troubleshooting.
Prime95 Torture tests can/will make some systems get a bit warm, but any modern P4/AMD system will thermally throttle or will lock up gracefully (and normally Prime95 will give error messages and quit before then). Encoding a large file can make systems get a bit warm too (which is why some fail).
