Hi, for certain reasons i have decided to go with a .WAV library. I have a windows laptop and a dbpoweramp subscription and save my wav library on an external hard drive (WD passport. The time has come to switch to a new laptop. when i buy it and download dbpoweramp, will the wav tagging on my hard drive stay when i connect it to the new computer? Or will i have to put in all details all over again? Hope I am clear and not confusing anyone?

Re: WAV tagging on new computer
I tried FLAC for many years! Got bored of it. I can't tell the difference between a well-done LAME MP3 and FLAC, but with wav there's more soundstage! I know, i know, bit for bit they are the same, etc...but that's just me. It's just me, I guess, but there are many who have agreed with me too. i feel FLAC and ALAC, like lossy codecs, alter the soundstage a bit. maybe I should explore aiff. I just go with wav because the redbook CD uses PCM as well, and I don't want to alter the digital file of that sound in any way. also, Hi-res downsampled to 16/44.1 WAV sound just fine to me. If only it had tagging support.Last edited by Partha; July 22, 2019, 06:38 PM.Comment

You won't alter the digital file. When an AccurateRip flac is decoded, you have the exactly the same bits as in the wav file and the CD PCM data.Last edited by mville; July 22, 2019, 07:04 PM.Comment

Re: WAV tagging on new computer
Like I said, there's possibly no scientific explanation for it. But I feel on my ipad, with the kaisertone player, wav definitely has more soundstage than flac. the flac is a bit mp3-ish. Attach that to a pair of elac bs 52.1s through the amp and it's bliss. flac is... meh.Comment
