MP3 codec could not be opened?

I'm running XP, and I just installed the latest version of dmc... and then the older version of LAME because it was crashing. But it still refuses to convert wav to mp3. I've tried all sorts of bit rates and frequencies, but all it tells me is:

"The CODEC required to compress (name) mp3' could not be opened".

Help would be most appreciated.

Try converting a 44.1Khz stereo wave file to mp3 Lame 128Kbps constant bitrate.
