Convert .dat files

With dbpower, I tried converting .dat files (children karaoke songs) to burn on cd (so my children can listen to the ones they like). I tried converting them to .wav and .wmw and .mp3, but they all changed tempo to a very fast beat. Also, although I set the quality is set to the best, the result on the audio cd player is still not very good. Is there a way I can convert them without changing the tempo, and retain the best quality? I tried downloading MonkeyAudio and its codec, but I cannot burn the .ape file. Is there a way I can burn the .ape file without changing it to .wav or other formats?

Thank you very much for helping,
a poor mum, Susan.

Re: Convert .dat files

I am hoping to release a new mp3 (or DAT) decoder soon (few weeks) that might not have this problem (speed change).
