    *.asx codec

Hi, first off I would like to say that dmc is the best!!! I downloaded a song named creep.asx. I found that this file is associated with a DAT file in my computers Temporary Internet Folder. If I delete this DAT file and try to play creep.asx, it wont because I need to be connected to the internet. But creep.asx plays if I dont delete this DAT file and I am not connected to the internet. How do I convert this ASX to MP3? I know I need a codec but Codec central doesn't have it. Where can I find one and dowload for free? Please help. Thanks

    more information

I deleted creep.asx an just open the DAT file and it played. I tried mulitilple different ways of copying or moving the DAT file fromTemporary Internet Folder to convert it but it wold not work. I have the VCD codec to decompress the DAT but DMC comes up with an error saying the codec required to decompress it could not be opened. I suggest having an ASX codec for the wish list. Please help.

      Re: more information

Make sure it has a .wma extension and use the Windows Media Audio Codec.

        already tried

Spoon, I am unsure on what you said "make sure it has a WMA extension".
I had WMA9 installed already and had the WMA codec installed and tried converting creep.asx but I couldn't. Its because the WMA codec I had from Codec Central only decodes WMA, WMV, and ASF, so DMC did not recognize the ASX file. I need to find a codec or something else that will decode ASX so I can convert it to MP3. Please help. I really appreciate the support. Thankyou.

          Re: already tried

Try the Codec at the bottom of Codec Central to rename the extension to .wma

            unnoticed

I got the rename extension installed and reboted my computer. I rename creep.asx to creep.wma but I couldn't. I checked dmc configuration for installed codecs. Dmc cannot notice ASX extensions. Here is the exact location of the ASX file I'm trying to convert to MP3: mms://a423.v8384d.c8384.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/423/8384/3b858b51/mtvrdstr.download.akamai.com/8512/wmp/5/96/7139_1_2_04.asf#0;1.000;0;0;1:2.

              Re: unnoticed

It needs to be downloaded to your PC to convert, there mght be stream ripper programs out there.
