ID3 creation when I erased them prior to reinstall of XP

Ok, I am coming from the Winamp forum to here b/c I think dMC might be the culprit. I had to reinstall XP and after getting settled down again, I realized my entire mp3 collection had ID3 v1 & v2 tags. (Prior to reinstallion I had zero tags)

I really hate these tags and delete them upon download of files or conversion to desired bit rate. Well I reinstalled dMC and set "ID3 Tag Formation" to "Never create v1". I couldn't remember if that was the previous setting or not, but could this be the reason why my entire collection was converted?

When converting I also have the box "Preserve ID3 tags" unchecked. So I am just trying to get down to what small detail or plug-in or anything that caused this annoyance for me. Any ideas??

The option of never create tags should be put into a future version. It would clear confusion for anyone.

Problem solved! Turned out to WMP 9 and its "features". If anyone else for some weird reason had this same problem, solution is in above posts' Winamp forum link.
