Nothing as far as playback is concerned, it potentially could be used to search for all music with a bpm > a certain number.

Tags don't do anything at all - it's always a software like a player, which interprets the data stored in the tags.

Thanks for the respond but yea i was just wondering why itunes always put that tag on the m4a files
