    Error Running Core Converter

I've tried several different files (right-click in explorer, select convert) and after selecting my options and clikcing convert, I get an error dialog that says "error running core converter." I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but nothing changes. I've tried mp3 to flac, m4a to mp3/flac... nothing seems to work.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

It is likely your security software is blocking 'CoreConverter.exe' from running, what software do you have?

As with the last security related error (conditional encoding GUI wouldn't display) I do not have anything beyond what comes built into Windows. If there are settings I need for Windows defender, I'll gladly apply them!

It wouldn't have anything to do with installing as admin and trying to run it from another account would it?

You could try running converter from an admin account as a test. If still no go try:

            Press start button and type

            cmd

            Select 'command prompt'

            then:

            "c:\program files\dBpoweramp\coreconverter.exe"

            What output is shown?

              My output (non-admin account) is:

dBpoweramp Music Converter (C) 2013 Illustrate Ltd

              Usage: CoreConverter.exe -infile="filename" -outfile="filename" -convert_to="codec" [codec compression CLI]

Does it work from the admin account?

No, same problem. Same output when running from the CLI, too.

I tried uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling into a different folder... still doesn't work.

I noticed while reinstalling, it saves the path of the previous install... does this mean that a setting is not being deleted correctly?

The path is preserved yes, but the program is removed.

What path are you installing to?

Look through your list of installed programs in 'Programs and Features' see if there are any anti malware, or any small security software listed.

                          Hey Spoon,

could it be a problem to install a 64 bit version of dBpa into the standard 32 bit program folder "C:\Program Files (x86)"?

Checked all programs using Windows App settings panel and Revo Uninstaller. I didn't see anything security/anti-virus/anti-malware related. This is a 6 month laptop and I havent even installed MalwareBytes on it (I've used that in the past).

Is there any way to get a more detailed debug message? Is there another program that does something similar (CLI control of another exe?) that I could try?

You have installed the 32bit version or 64 bit version?
