can't open codec

The CODEC required to compress 'C:\wavs\ Let's All Chant 2000-Michael Zager Band.wav' could not be opened

that is the message i keep getting - any idea's ?? easy step - by - step solution please, I'm NOT tht brilliant when it comes to pc's !!
