how to convert shn files to flac or m4a with dBpoweramp

I'm looking for a program that will convert shn files to other lossless files. Using a Mac. I downloaded the trial version of dBpoweramp, but I cannot figure out how to do this task. Assistance, please

Please can you provide more info? Can you describe what you have tried so far and exactly where you have a problem?

Thank you for responding. I opened dBpoweramp and clicked on Music Converter. Then the program seemed to open up my finder window. I found the files I want to convert, but they are...shaded and I am unable to move them. And if I could move them, I don't know where I would move them to. The files are a concert audience recording from 1996. Also, when I clicked on codecs, shn was not listed among any of the encoder or decoder options.

I guess (as I am a Windows user) that the window that opened in your Finder is the Select Audio File(s) window. You are able to navigate to the correct folder, but you say the .shn files are shaded (greyed out?) so again, I guess you cannot select them. This is probably due to the fact that dBpoweramp Music Converter for Apple OS X does not have the required codec to read the Shorten .shn file format.

Have you read somewhere that dBpoweramp Music Converter for Apple OS X supports the Shorten file format, because it is unlikely, as this format is (almost) defunct.

I think older versions of dBpoweramp could work with shorten. Yeah, I doubt many use shn these days. There are older recordings that are in shn, so I'm trying to figure out if they're still accessible, or will I just have to write them off?

I think they are accessible. I believe dBpoweramp Music Converter for Windows with the 32-bit Shorten codec does work. The issue here is you are using dBpoweramp Music Converter for Apple OS X.
