Convert Music Stored on my NAS

Hi, am new to this so apologies if this is an obvious question or already covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find an answer.

I have all my music stored on a Western Digital MyBook NAS, I use FLAC format.

I also use iTunes on my MacBook, with all my music in AAC for replication to my iPhone. The iTunes libraries have got messed up so it now can't find the source files on my Mac.

Rather than re-rip everything to iTunes, I'd like to convert all my FLAC files from the NAS onto the Mac, but I can't find a way to direct the file converter to look at the NAS, it only offers locations on Mac hard disc.

I'm guessing I'm not the first person to try this, so any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Firstly you would mount the NAS in your mac, you can do this by opening finder then choosing Go (from tool bar menu) >> Connect to Server

Type the name / address of the nas and the nas icon will appear on the desktop.

Then you right click on this icon >> services >> Convert with dBpoweramp. Click in the square box next to the drive name to set to convert, then click Convert.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried your advice but when I right click the icon for the nas I don't get the menu option "services" nor "convert with dBpoweramp. I only get that option if I go into the folders and right click on an individual audio file.

Any more advice would be welcome, thanks.

If you right click on one of the folders, when Batch Converter shows you should be able to select the whole share one level up (under Volumes)?

Thanks for the extra advice. Still don'g get an opportunity to select dBpoweramp when I right click a folder. Now when I right click a file and select "convert with dBpoweramp" I get an error message below. It may be coincidence but I bought the upgrade to R16 this week.

This suggests you are not using R16
