M4A encoder problem

I have just installed Music Converter V16.2 on a new PC running Windows 10. I then installed the M4A FDK (AAC) encoder. When I try to convert an audio file to m4a format no converted file appears and the following error message appears - "Error Unable to load encoder m4a FDK (AAC) dBcoreConverter::dBcoreConverter"
I have used this program to convert mp3 to m4a for many years on several PC's with great success but now I cannot see what I am doing wrong. Can anybody help PLEASE.

Do you use the 32bit or 64bit version of dBpa? Did you install the corresponding verion of the M4A encoder?

I installed the downloaded Music Converter installation file and as it seems to have installed in the program files folder I assume it has installed the 64bit version on my 64bit Windows 10. The encoder installation file was supposed to contain both 32 and 64bit versions and as it also seems to have installed in the program files folder (not the program files X86) it would seem to be a 64bit version also.

No, The compression options for m4a are not visible.

Then you likely have the 32 bit version installed, or your security software is blocking the dll from loading. Uninstall the encoder, then reinstall and look at the filename shown when Windows asks for elevate permissions, it should have 64 in the filename.

Thanks, the file name when reinstalling had 32 in it, as you suggested. The file I downloaded from Codec Central was described as containing both 32 and 64bit versions. Do you know where I can get a 64bit version please?

The single install has both, however you must have a 32 bit version of dBpoweramp installed also, browse to:

c:\program files (x86)\Illustrate

if there is a folder dBpoweramp, remove it.

Many thanks again for the reply. Yes there was a folder called dbpoweramp in the illustrate folder. I have removed it but when I try to install the encoder it still comes up with 32 in the name in the security check box. Help Please

Then reinstall dBpoweramp, then the m4a codec.

I have downloaded the file to my HDD but when I right click on it there is no menu but a box pops up with the message "Report this file as unsafe"

Any comments?

You download that reset program and run it by double click it.

I ran the reset program and all appeared to go well.
I then installed the music converter. I checked the Programfilesx86 folder and nothing had been installed there.
Next I tried to install the encoder but when the security check window appeared the file name had a 32 in it. I did not complete the codec installation.

Any ideas for the next step please?

Did you turn off your security Software during the Installation? To me it seems that your security Software is the problem.

Which installation should I turn antivirus off for?Converter, codec or both? Should I uninstall Music converter and start again?
