Playlist Writer - .IGNORE as extensions

I recently started adding ReplayGain to some of my albums. While I was doing it, I figured I'd add playlists at the same time, using the Playlist Writer DSP.

Unfortunately, if I double click on the m3u file afterwards, I get an error in VLC (bad file descriptor) and tryling to load the file into Foobar doesn't do anything.

Looking at the file itself, it seems all the tracks have a .IGNORE extension rather than .flac. Manually searching & replacing .IGNORE to .FLAC fixes the issue, but of course that's not exactly how it's supposed to work. ;-)

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.

What is the encoder set to?

[ReplayGain] is the encoder.

I just ran a quick test -- if I set the encoder to be FLAC (so it "converts" FLAC to FLAC, and ReplayGain & Playlist Writer are DSPs) it writes the playlist correctly. So it's something to do with the [ReplayGain] choice in the Encoding drop down.

Let me know if you need me to run any other tests, or if you can reproduce the issue. Reconverting definitely takes longer, and I also don't know if it has any other negative effects (though I kind of doubt it).

[ReplayGain] is a utility codec, it cannot be used with DSP effects.

Thanks. So is the best way to add both ReplayGain tags as well as a Playlist to convert FLAC to FLAC with those two DSP effects?

Also, may I ask a curiosity question? Why are all DSP effects not able to be used with the [ReplayGain] utility codec? It's allowed in the interface (which is what messed me up), and a Playlist Writer DSP isn't doing anything to the file. What caused it to generate .IGNORE rather than the correct .FLAC?

DSP effects are processed during the conversion, with a utility codec there is no actual conversion, just an action.

It is written in the help file that such effects do not work.

It might be an idea to disable the Add DSP button for utility codecs.

My curiosity was actually around the programmatic behavior that generated a .IGNORE extension. It just seemed like an interesting effect, given the rest of the playlist generated correctly. More a curiosity thing than anything else, and if you don't have the time to go into it I totally understand!
