WMA lossless conversion consistently fails with verification errors

Started quite a while back, first with Win 8.1 and now Win 10.

Worked fine for years in Win 7 and 8.1 before that.

Have bought and upgraded to 16.1, reinstalled WMA Pro 10 Rel 9. No change.

Conversions from all 3 of FLAC, ALAC, and WMA to WMA fail at lower sample rate. Bit size remains constant.

Still works fine at same sample rate.

FLAC downconverts to WAV just fine.

Important as it's the intermediate step of the easiest way to convert 24/96 FLAC or ALAC to 24/48 ALAC for iOS - WAV does work but much metadata about file is lost.

    Error text:

Error converting to Windows Media Audio 10, 'D:\audio\!!Moved from Dropbox to file\Bruce Hornsby & The Range\Night On the Town\05-Across the River.wma' to 'D:\audio\!!Moved from Dropbox to file\Bruce Hornsby & The Range\Night On the Town\05-Across the River-24.48.wma'
Error audio file failed verification 'D:\audio\!!Moved from Dropbox to file\Bruce Hornsby & The Range\Night On the Town\05-Across the River-24.48.wma'.

Error converting to Windows Media Audio 10, 'D:\audio\!!Moved from Dropbox to file\Bruce Hornsby & The Range\Night On the Town\04-Barren Ground.wma' to 'D:\audio\!!Moved from Dropbox to file\Bruce Hornsby & The Range\Night On the Town\04-Barren Ground-24.48.wma'
Error audio file failed verification 'D:\audio\!!Moved from Dropbox to file\Bruce Hornsby & The Range\Night On the Town\04-Barren Ground-24.48.wma'.

BTW have reviewed with no success:

Not sure what's going on here, but I've tried to convert two complete albums and every track reports a failed verification. I'm completely new to converting flac to anything, and haven't done much since ripping cds to mp3 via cdex and the mad decoder back in the napster days, so any help or direction is appreciated. I've

Hi, I just bought DBpoweramp reference to rip my 1000 CD collection into my hard disk. I decided to use WMA lossless for no particular reason other that I have a Windows XP PC and a MP3 player that support WMA lossless. I'm trying to rip "Peter Gabriel - So". The CD is on AccurateRip database, but mine must be

    Any ideas?

    Thx all

What happens if you encode FLAC >> wave (with downsample) then wave to wma with verify enabled?
