Christina, I remember you saying before that ASF is only a meta-file that points to the real audio files or something like that.....perhaps that is why this ASF file can't be converted to mp3? Or am I wrong? :confused:

No, it's not .asf - but rather .asx which is the meta file. :D

LOL! User error :D

I have never attempted to convert .asf files directly, maybe that works. I have always first renamed them to .wma just to avoid possible problems. I should test to see if it actually works of its won accord with .asf files too :D


**** UPDATE **** It actually works! I seem to have so little faith in automatic things :D

Rename the .asf file to the .wma extension. They are the same if it only contains audio.

Hi Christina, thanks for your suggestion. Tried it but it didn't work (as you suspected, the asf files contained audio only).

I found a similar problem in another thread & the suggestion there was to install (convertor & codec) in the default installation directory - which I hadn't done initially. Did that, tested dMC & it worked .

P.S. - As I like to install most programs in a particular directory, I moved the dMC(+codec) installation with a 'change of address' utility . Tested dMC & conversion again & all works well.

Have you tried playing them in Windows Media Player? what are their size?

Not more than 1 Megabyte and they all are 160 files. I want to send a file of 713Kbyte.

Hold the mouse over the WMA file, if it says Is_Protected: Yes, then dMC will not be able to convert it.

The type of file I'm trying to convert is ASF not WMA. And those ASF coded files are not protected.

Another info; Just as soon as conversion starts this message appears and it stops.

and you have the dBpowerAMP Windows Media Audio Codec installed?

I have the following Codecs installed:

MP3 Lame Codec
Wave Codec
WMA V2 Codec
WMA V7 Codec
WMA V9 Codec

Additionally, dMC Audio CD Input is working properly to read from CD to convert to MP3.
