itunes not burning

hey i just downloaded irunes and i have an internal CD burner which it recognizes but i can't seem to burn a CD. The thing is that if i put in a blank CD it doesn't show up under my sources list. When i go to the help page on itunes it says that that might because burning is not allowed by the computer administrator. The thing is i'm using a personal laptop computer that is not connected to any network so that can't be the problem. On top of that other programs i have like windows media play give me no trouble when burning. I though reinstalling itunes might work but no luck there either. Can anyone help me?
