    unrecognised aac format

I have a DVR - which I think can be considered a generic branded type. It porduces aac files, which play back fine thru VLC and can indeed be comverted thru VLC. But for obivous reasons I prefer to use dBpoweramp. However it fails when trying any conversion on them. Here are some errors:

Error converting to mp3 (Lame), 'D:\DVR\44\20260410-1.aac' to 'D:\DVR\44\20260410-1.mp3'
Unable to decode m4a file (is corrupt or not supported audio type).

Error converting to mp3 (Lame), 'D:\DVR\44\20260410-2.aac' to 'D:\DVR\44\20260410-2.mp3'
Unable to decode m4a file (is corrupt or not supported audio type).

Error converting to mp3 (Lame), 'D:\DVR\44\20260411-1.aac' to 'D:\DVR\44\20260411-1.mp3'
Unable to decode m4a file (is corrupt or not supported audio type).

    Codec information comes up as:

    Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)
    Language: English
    Bitrate: 96 kb/s
    Type: Audio
    Sample rate: 48000 Hz
    Bits per sample: 16
Decoded format: 32 bits float LE (f321)
    Decoded channels: Stereo
    Decoded bits per sample: 32

Any ideas why these fail through dBpoweramp?

Try renaming the extension to .m4a

Thanks, however I have tried that with the same result, same error messages.
