    wavs are garbled

When converting songs to mpeg-3 (wav) from MP3 the file is totally garbled. The converter was working fine 2 weeks ago. I am using this codec: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codecs/lameACM.zip

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the codec and dMC. no idea what is wrong. Any ideas please?

What happens if you convert that wave file back to mp3, is it still garbled?

yeah spoon, just tried it, it sounds just like the wav, when converted back to mp3, still garbled. I just did some more experimenting... If i convert the MP3 to wav in PCM format, full size (with dmc), then compress that wav to MPEG format (with windows sound recorder), it works fine. But if i try to convert the pcm to mpeg with the DMC it doesnt work either, has to be something with the dmc? it worked fine before dern nabbit. made sure i had nothing else running even, just in case. What can i do or try?

If you have the Power Pack installed, make sure no DSP effects are running (the Power Pack DSP button).

Try creating a normal PCM wave file, is that ok with dMC?

I dont have power pack installed.

I can convert an MP3 to a PCM wav fine with dMC. I just cant compress it or convert a MP3 to mpeg-layer 3 wav with dMC. I can however compress a PCM to mpeg with the sound recorder, its just not working with the dMC. the dMC works fine for converting a CDA to MP3 or PCM, just not to the mpeg layer 3 wav. :(

Try different compression settings for the wav-mp3 file, something like 128Kbps

It baffles me, I don't know what to suggest.

If you run regedit and delete the folder:

                    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Illustrate

then delete the folder c:\program files\illustrate

**backup any music collection first if you have my player.
