Convert from flac to aiff format while preserving tags

I am trying to convert some flac files from my music library to aiff format, which i can do no problem. The problem comes when i want to load the converted files into MusicBrainz picard and normally with MusicBrainz tagged they move to the right Colum and grab the updated info. However, in this case they stay on the left-hand side due to the field tags not being converted from flac to aiff. So I have to retag again in musicbrainz which results in duplicate tags. i have tried setting to convert case, but this resulted in info such as artist names being title case converted not the field name such as Music Brainz Id.

It seems to me that there a need to map each tag across manually, but this would be tedious to do. Any thoughts, or is there a setting to map tags across when converting?

Perhaps picard cannot read AIFF tags, the standard is and 'id3' chunk and you can verify they are correct by dropping a file in Apple iTunes.
