Converter crashes when trying to covert M4P->MP3

When I try to convert an M4P (AAC) file to MP3, all I get is the Windows "MusicConverter.exe has encoutered a problem and needs to close (blah blah)" message. I have the M4P codec installed and am using the default settings. Any ideas on why this conversion fails?

.ape to mp4 goes fine and so does .ape to wave..

No only is is a protected file... but the codec u have installed for dppoweramp is for .mp4 ...the itunes are .m4p files. your best bet is to burn the .m4p to cd, and then extract it from the cd. you'll loose quality but its worth the shot.
