Convert file from FLAC 1.2.1 to 1.3.1?

I have a 24bit/48KHz FLAC file that will play on my PC but not my stereo (I get a "Format Error" message). The only difference I see between FLACs that play on my stereo and the one that doesn't is the encoder for the FLAC that won't play is listed as "FLAC reference libflac 1.2.1". My guess is that my PC will play 1.2.1 but my stereo won't. My question is, is there a way to convert 1.2.1 to something newer like 1.3.1? I tried just a straight conversion from FLAC to FLAC with no DSP effects added but it didn't help.

Or, if you have any other theories I'd love to hear them. My stereo is very particular about what formats it will play; ALAC or anything over 96 KHz I get the same "Format Error" message.

    Thanks

If you install the latest version of dBpoweramp then converting from FLAC to FLAC reencodes with the later version.
