    simple downsampling question

Hi I have two very basic questions. When I am downsampling hi-res files to CD quality, the settings in the converter usually go: resample (44.1)/bit depth (16 bit).

Question No. 1: I get it volume analysed later in musicbee because I wasn't sure whether to put replay gain tags before or after bit depth. Please educate.

Question 2: Is there any benefit in putting an extra setting in upping the bit depth to 32-bit float before resampling? Or does that happen automatically anyway?

    Thanks

EDITED: I am dithering (triangular) while reducing the bit depth though the jury seems to be out on this one.

It would be after the resample and bit depth.

Best practice would be 32 bit float, resample, bit depth (dither + 16 bit), replaygain
