I have always set the Music Converter to uncompressed FLAC. However, today it refused to convert WAV to uncompressed FLAC for 1 set of WAV files. I saw 34% compressed. All of the other sets converted to uncompressed FLAC. What am I missing? If it means anything, the original audio content (in an mkv file from a DVD) was lossy on the dvd. Would that have made a difference? Thank you very much.

I appreciate the response but you are incorrect. I have converted thousands of files from WAV to uncompressed FLAC for years. Ten minutes ago, I converted a 192kHz WAV file to FLAC. The FLAC file was also 192kHz 24 bit with 0% compression. If you do the same test you will come up to the same result. Try it and see what happens.Comment

The compression level in FLAC doesn’t affect audio quality—it’s just how much the file is compressed. Even if your original audio was lossy, FLAC will still convert it correctly. The “34% compressed” just means FLAC compressed that file more efficiently this time. So it’s normal and nothing to worry about.Comment

Thank you. I am aware that compressed FLAC does not affect the quality. However, that was not my concern. I am trying to figure out why the FLAC files made yesterday said 34% compressed when it was set to Uncompressed. I have converted 1000s of WAV files to FLAC over the years, always at Uncompressed. For some reason, the software refused to convert to Uncompreessed for only these files done yesterday.Comment
