Converting from DSD to PCM - too many conflicting answers out there :(

    Hi there

Firstly, I wanted to say how glad I am that I purchased DBP - it has so many useful tools, and I'd be lost without it so thankyou - whilst I struggled a bit at first, the people on this forum, especially "oh silver one" helped me out and I'm pretty aux fait with it now!

I do have a question though, I want to convert alot of DSD files to PCM - but there are so many conflicting tales out there as to how I should do it (adding a high pass filter) and also saying 24/192 but others say 24/96 is better - can anyone be definitive on this please as I want to get it right.

The reason I want to convert them all is that I like the Replaygain function, I love it in fact, and also the metadata tags with my album art (I run everything on a usb stick up the backside of my Wiim Ultra) - and the material I have in the DSD format I can't get in a higher quality than 16bit standard CD which all sounds rather dull in comparison.

I thank you for your time once again regarding any advice you can give.

    Cheers

Off the top of my head, DSD has high frequency noise above 100KHz, so 96KHz as the decoded frequency is free of that, converting to 192 and running a highpass would not give better results.

      Hi there

OK, so I'm fine to convert to 24/96 without the need for any filtering? What I might do is try an album and have a good listen and see how it is, but thank you for confirming

      Cheers
