    mp4 tags missing

ripped to FLAC....then convert to MP3 and MP4 files...MP3 file has the correct tags but MP4 files are missing tags...using dMC 9a...

also iTunes Windows doesn't recognize the file as mp4 audio but as a quicktime movie file...is that just an issue of changing extension to m4p or m4a or something else...how would i get dMC to change extension/type?

    TIA

    Re: mp4 tags missing

To change the extension have a look at the bottom of codec central, iTunes is happy with .m4a

Currently only iTunes can read tags that it is happy with, this is set to change by either an update to itunes, or all the other programs - dB, Nero etc.

dB will be creating tags that it will read (hold the mouse over the file, it should show the tags).

      Re: mp4 tags missing

      Spoon,

Thanks...dMC is creating Tags for MP4 files from the FLAC files...the problem is that iTunes doesn't recognize the tags as written to the MP4 file...iTunes does recognize the MP3 file tags correctly...so dMC is working properly and i'll just have to wait for Apple to fix or release the tag spec they're using...thanks for the great program(s)...

this all leads me to another ?...if i transfer MP4s to ipod with iTunes will iPod see tags or should i use ephpod or sveta...and will ipod work with MP4 files or do they have to be renamed to M4A...thanks again.

Re: mp4 tags missing NOW FOUND!

        Spoon,

i got it to properly tag the MP4 files from FLAC...when i clicked on convert i selected rename and just changed the extension to m4a...the resulting file popped up with the iTunes aac icon not teh quicktime media file icon...when i dropped the file into iTunes it immediately shoed all the tags...yeah!...now i just have to see if i can change extension in batch processing situation...

when i tried using the rename extension feature i couldnt get it to work because after the flac is convertd to an mp4 dMC pop up menu w/ rename option isnt available b/c the file is now linked to itunes/quicktime.

        thanks,

If you re-run the 'dMC Configuration' program, it will add a Convert To, to those mp4 files.

But if you're converting multiple files to m4a, that would take for ever. Better yet, go to where the FAAC codec is located and open "Options." At the very top of the page it should say ".mp4." Change that to ".m4a." Now all converted files will have a m4a extension.
