I've spent a lot of time ripping CD's today and noticed that all my multi-disc collections have track # the same as disc #. At least according to Mp3Tag and Tag Scan. And these are FLACs. If there is no Disc #, the track #'s are just fine.

That is indeed a strange one, it is possible to do this, but is very hard (would involve the DSP effect ID Tag Processing and a tag assignment). Check you have not got that DSP effect in list of DSPs. -
When ripping, the only DSP action I have is ReplayGain and I use the following dynamic action for Naming:
[MAXLENGTH]80,[IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[IFCOMP]Various Artists[][IF!COMP][artist][][][]\[MAXLENGTH]80,[year] - [album][]\[MAXLENGTH]80,[IFVALUE]disc,[SETLEN]2,48,,[disc][]-,[][SETLEN]2,48,,[track][] - [title][]
The Tags section contains the standard tag looking fields.Last edited by dzangger67; February 25, 2025, 02:14 PM.Comment

Is it the filename or the ID Tags? ie if you right click on one track >> edit id tags, has the track number in the tags been set to disc number?Comment

So I just ripped 2 CDs of a 6 CD set. The tracks look good. The next thing I would do is convert them to MP3. I'll do that here shortly.Comment

For one of the tracks, right click >> convert to
set the encoder as [Audio Info] and choose the extensive audio information option only, click convert, after converting copy and paste the results here please.Comment

I ripped all 6 cd's and converted them to mp3. The track #'s are fine. It must be another 3rd party tool. Let me keep checking. Sorry I wasted your time. I'll report back once I find the issue.Comment

The culprit is Virtual DJ. I use that to calculate the BPM of the tracks and when it was done, I confirmed that the tracks were all reset to the Disc Number. Thanks again for your support. I hate that I wasted your time.Comment
