Random tag failure

Hello

I'm using dMC 10 RC (just downloaded and installed it), with configured accuraterip/etc.

Randomly i get "Transferring Tag Info to <filename>" in the status field while ripping a cd (i'm ripping to WMA9 Pro VBR Q90 44 kHz 24-bit 2-channel). When it "stalls" at this, the cd-drive (Plextor PX-W4824A internal, newest firmware) spins down, and it takes a few seconds before it starts on the next song, and spins up again. the tag-info is NOT written to the WMA files at all.. when i rip a cd, this might happen to approx 50% of the files, some are fine, some are not.

I've tried to disable rip to ram, disable realtime encoding (with rip to ram), and, well, about everything i can think off.. still this problem is there :(

Please help, as i need my taginfo.. and i have a bunch of cd's to be ripped here :(

Seems like this especially happens if i change some of the info that is fetched from FreeDB.. And the spin-down of the cd-rom only happened because i had "Read CD-Text if supported" (or similar) enabled. Disabled that and no spin-down, but still no tags on alot of the files..

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall everything. This didn't fix anything.
I've tried to rip to MP3/MPC and Ogg, no difference there (tagging fails).

Sounds like you might have a virus checker jumping in and taking control of the file.

Well, i tried to disable my realtime antivirus scanner now - and i still have the same problems.

I'm running Windows XP SP1 Pro with all the patches, and im not running any firewall/scanner/etc other than my AV scanner (which i disabled, even killed the process).

For it to affect so many different audio types, even some that I am not in direct control of the tags - such as ogg - you just tell it to write a tag. That has to be something jumping in, you could try loading XP in safe mode with nothing loaded (F8 when it says starting windows), see if that helps.
