Newbie here. I'm not sure if file is the right word. What I mean is when I rip a pre-recorded music CD from my personal collection, the mp3 track info is: artist/album/track number artist-track title. I do not understand why the artist is incorporated into the track title. In other words why is the artist listed twice? It's not needed, and I would rather not edit it out manually for every track when I rip a CD. TIA
Is there a way to edit the output mp3 file before ripping a CD?

That is just the folder / filenames. The first artist for the folder name is the album artist, the next artist is normally the same, yet for some tracks there is a different artist. -

Thanks for the response, however, the questions remain-is there a way to not have the 'second' artist be included in the title of the track? Shouldn't there be a second field for the second, or contributing, artist or artists?Comment

I just checked the dynamic naming settings, removed the 2nd reference to the artist and ripped a few tracks. Then I removed the album artist and ripped a few more tracks. In both cases, the artist was still displayed in the title of each track. I just had a couple of thoughts-is this happening because I'm in the trial program, since I have not decided if I want to buy this software. I am also tempted to change the album artist to john doe and see what happens. Then change the contributing artist and see what happens. I would really like to not have to edit each track manually after ripping it.Comment

OK. I think I got it right on the second try. If I highlight the contributing artist and do a backspace, the title of each track appears as it should-without the artist's name in it. Thanks again for the help.👍 1Comment

You might try this naming string. It automatically handles compilations, multidisc, with and without album artist, etc.
[MAXLENGTH]240,[IFCOMP]Compilations\[album][IFMULTI]\Disc [disc][]\[track] - [title] - [artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][IFMULTI]\Disc [disc][]\[track] - [title][][]
or some prefer to call compilations, “Various Artists”. If so replace the word “Compilations” above with “various Artists”Last edited by garym; December 06, 2024, 01:39 AM.Comment
