I want suggestion for Organizing a Huge Music Library?

    Hey everyone,

I have been putting off for way too long organizing my gigantic music library. It is a total mess; with a mix of high quality FLAC files; MP3s & even some old CDs I still need to rip. The folders are inconsistent & I have tons of duplicates scattered everywhere.

I came across dBpoweramp & heard it is a game changer for ripping, converting & tagging music files but I would love to hear your experiences & any tips you have. How do you manage sizable libraries and maintain orderly organization?? Are there specific dBpoweramp features you swear by or maybe tricks for setting up a smooth workflow for tagging and ripping?

Any tips for managing album artwork, batch conversions or keeping everything backed up properly??

As well, I found these resources when doing research on this; https://forum.dbpoweramp.com/forum/d...ecommendationsminitab & if anyone have any resources, tutorials or personal experiences please share with me, It would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thank you…….

I have all my files organized as:

    album artist/album/...
That is, under the album directory, you'll find:
    01 - track name.flc
    02 - track name. flc
    cover.jpg

The "cover.jpg" is the album art that include as a file rather than embedding the art within each file.

For various artist albums, I have them organized as:

    compilations/album/....
    with tracks as

    01 - track name - artist name.flc

I use dbpa to rip, selecting FLAC format. The only DSPs I add are ReplayGain, with the setting at LUFS -18, 2x oversample, and do NOT tick disable clip prevention. I add ALBUM and TRACK RG tags.

I use the following as my naming string. It automatically handles various artists and multiple disks.

    [MAXLENGTH]240,[IFCOMP]Compilations\[album][IFMULTI]\Disc [disc][]\[track] - [title] - [artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][IFMULTI]\Disc [disc][]\[track] - [title][][]

That's a pretty great example of how powerful it can be. Once you have the naming setup, you can run the batch converter on your existing library. You can use the conditional encoding DSP to directly copy instead of convert files, or you can have it skip files. For example, I still have a bunch of lossless WMAs hanging around. I want to convert them to flac. I could use that DSP to copy the FLACs over, convert the WMAs and skip any MP3s.

I should also add that there's a powerful filter in the batch converter too. I use it all the time to pick out only the WAV files in my entire library.
