    Conversion to FLAC

I have just tried rival Exact Copy V1.1 software and found that after reading the CD it requires it to be converted to WAV (compressed!) before converting to FLAC uncompressed.
This sounds as if it defeats the object of using FLAC, ofcourse I may be wrong and frankly it matters not as I prefer the user friendliness of dBpoweramp.
That said, does dBpoweramp do the same, covertly, as it does not show that step as one progreeses through the conversion.
Would much appreciate all you experienced users advice.

dBpoweramp rips directly to FLAC when ripping.

Out of curiosity, when ripping a CD in Exact Audio Copy, with flac as the desired output file format, why does it matter to you how this is achieved?

I think it is unlikely the WAV file you are talking about is compressed. WAV is simply a container format. They can contain compressed or uncompressed audio but far more often that not they will contain a lossless PCM bitstream. I think what you are describing is the software ripping the raw CD data to an uncompressed WAV file, then compressing it (in a lossless method mind you), to FLAC.
