wma to aiff cuts the track short on most players

I'm running XP, I've downloaded and installed the wma codec and rebooted. Every time I convert, the newly converted track is about half the length in media player and real player. It only holds its original lengnth in quicktime.

When I manipulate the bitrate low enough, it gets the whole track but sounds like poop.

    what am I doing wrong?

Have you noticed if the file plays faster/slower than the original? If so, you might have an encoding frequency issue that dBPowerAmp might not be picking up.

Thank you for the speedy response.

The track is audibly identical to the original in quality (when the sample rate is up) and speed. It plays well then simply stops. The higher the bit rate, the shorter the output track and vice versa. This leads me to believe that there is some inverse relationship between quality (sample rate) and length of the track.

Striking a happy medium between the two doesn't work because the quality suffers too much to allow for the length.

      Any other thoughts?

Yes, that was the right email. I edited your message to take out the actual email to prevent bots from grabbing it and start spamming me.

This is the original file and you want to make an AIFF out of it?

Sounds like the bugs are with these two.

I just tried converting the file with a few different settings and it is fine all the time. Now I can't tell for the quality though, I'm on cheap HP speakers so..
