Cannot get Audio Cd Input to work with external USB2 TDK CD-R

Hi,
I am trying to get Audio CD Input to recognize my external USB 2 CD-R, but it does not seem to see it. dbPowerAmp always shows "insert audio cd". However, other audio players and even Music Converter work just fine.

Any help is appreciated. I would like to be able to use the freedb tagging with audio cd input.
