ID tags in MP3 files truncated at 30 characters

Under Mp3 ID Tagging in Advanced Options, I have:

    Tag Creation - ID3v1+2
    ID3v1 Version - v1.1
    ID3v2 Version - v2.4

When I right click on an MP3 and hit ID Tag Update, I type in the full tag details (artist, album, year, etc) and in this case, the album title is longer than 30 characters. When I right click the MP3 file in Windows and go to Propeties -> ID-Tag, it is showing the full album title and all tags without truncation.

The files are named disc, track number and title, like so:

    1-01-Song Name
    1-02-Song Name
    etc

I run the Tag From Filename option but after doing so, it is not only not adding the disc, track number or title on Back to Front or Front to Back, but the album title is now getting cut off in the ID3 tag after 30 characters (when I open the file in WinAmp the album title is truncated). It was fine before I did the Tag From Filename option.

    Any ideas anyone?

If a program can read the 2.4 tag it will do and show the full length of the tags, this is normal. Tag from filename will not write a 2.4 tag if there is already a 1.1 tag, only this will be written, first convert all your files to Update ID tag to get both.

Do I need a 1.1 tag at all? Can I just write v2 tags?

I would use v2.3, as 2.4 is not supported by every application.
