    screwed up really badly

    Alright so here's the story:

Just bought the new saves the day album, was going to rip it onto my comp so I used dbpoweramp. I had slow accurate ripping on, and I kept trying to rip it but it kept freezing before I ever got to the screen. So I finally get it to start ripping, and it freezes in the middle while it's ripping to one of my RAID Configured Hard drives. It freezes in the middle of this, and so I am forced to restart. After this, I am sick of the program, so I look for an uninstall but can't find any... so being sick and tired of the thing, i just toss the folder in the trash and empty it. Problem with this is that once I restarted my comp, my cd-rw makes a little brief weird noise, and now my raid configured hard drive can't be detected. Also, I have trouble playin cds cause it'll say it's missing a cdgrab.exe file or somethin.... So yeah, I'm hoping I can somehow fix this without having to reformat, but is that possible at all?

it sounds like that album might have the new copy protection on it?

to uninstall just look in your control panel for "add and remove programs" and uninstall it like any other windows programe.

          CDGrab problems - dMC

I too seem to be having problems with dMC. when I try to start the converter nothing happens. Looking at the task manager cdgrab is not responding. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still have the same problem. I could use some help here. If anyone has a solution.
          Thx. GLCFarms

Try starting it with no cd in the drive, then switch off the fetch freedb option (in options).

              CDGrab problems - still.

I tried the idea of taking the cd out and then starting dMC, but it still does not work. I never even see dMC start up. CDGrab shows up in task manager as a running process but thats it. Any more suggestions?

Try Start >> Programs >>dbpowreamp music converter >> configuration >> dmc audio cd config

I just tried this, and still no luck. I have found something else though. dbpower amp used to be the default player for my mp3 files, however now unless I actually open a player mp3's and cd's will not play by either clicking on the file or inserting a cd. Maybe this will help too. Before having the problem with cdgrab I had installed the ogg and shorten codecs for dmc. Any more ideas? Thanks, GLCFarms.

Try the drastic, delete the folder C:\program files\illustrate

(after backing up dbpoweramps music database if dAP is installed), then reinstall.

Backed up, deleted, and reinstalled. ??? Seems to be working fine now but I also had to reinstall the drivers for my cd drive. I'm a little baffled. Do you think there is any relation between the problem with cdgrab and the ogg and shorten codecs I installed? I can't think of anything else I changed just prior to having this problem. GLCFarms.

It is possible if a codec was installed into the wrong folder it could break things.
