Trying to convert mp3 format to MPEG Layer-3 wave format

Have used dbpowerAMP for a long time converting mp3 format to wave format. Having just started using windows 7 and re-downloading dbpowerAMP i am lost in one area. I don't see an option on the compressed dropdown for converting an mp3 to a mpeg layer 3 wave. Is it not possible to do this with my new version of dbpowerAMP ? Help would be appreciated !

Select Wav-mp3 on the wave main page, this uses the better lame encoder.

Re: Trying to convert mp3 format to MPEG Layer-3 wave format

I am not easily outdone but this might be one of those times. When i check wav-mp3 on the main page then the wave is larger than the mp3 i am converting from. And it also will not play with windows media player. I need a compresssed wave that is smaller than the mp3 i am converting from of normal to high quality. I'm not converting waves to mp3s i'm trying to convert mp3s to waves. So easy with the dbpowerAMP version i previously owned ... does the new version of dbpowerAMP not convert mp3s to waves that play with Windows Media Player ? I'm beginning to wonder. Thanks.

If Windows media player cannot play, then it will not play your old created files, as it is missing a system ACM decoder for wave mp3.

You can change the bit rate to create a smaller file.

Re: Trying to convert mp3 format to MPEG Layer-3 wave format

Re: your last comment, Windows Media Player plays all of my music in every format except the ones i try to convert with this program, those will not play.
OK so i deleted my old version of dbpoweramp and repurchased the family pack of it this morning thinking maybe this will help me here.
Now i do have a dropdown for a compressed Mpeg Layer-3 format with the attributes giving me only one choice of 32 kbits/s. 22.025Hz stereo 3 kb/sec
So I attempt to convert an mp3 and i get the error below
Error converting to Wave, 'C:\User\Music\Tremeloes - Call Me Number One.mp3' to 'C:\User\Music\Tremeloes - Call Me Number One.wav'
Wave Encoder: Error Converting from 'Format Tag: 1 Channels: 2 Bits per Sample: 16 Samples Per Second: 44100 Bytes Per Second: 176400 Block Align: 4 CB Size: 0' to 'Format Tag: 85 Channels: 2 Bits per Sample: 0 Samples Per Second: 11025 Bytes Per Second: 4000 Block Align: 1 CB Size: 12'

Thanks for your help I'm stuck again with the program not working.

Try including the DSP effect 'Resample' set to 22.025Hz

Re: Trying to convert mp3 format to MPEG Layer-3 wave format

i added DSP effect resample set to 22.025Hz and with trying to convert the same mp3 three different times, i get a similar error message as above

Error converting to Wave, 'C:\User\Music\Tremeloes - Call Me Number One.mp3' to 'C:\User\Music\Tremeloes - Call Me Number One.wav'
Wave Encoder: Error Converting from 'Format Tag: 1 Channels: 2 Bits per Sample: 16 Samples Per Second: 22050 Bytes Per Second: 88200 Block Align: 4 CB Size: 0' to 'Format Tag: 85 Channels: 2 Bits per Sample: 0 Samples Per Second: 11025 Bytes Per Second

And I've tried with several mp3's nothing seems to work

Re: Trying to convert mp3 format to MPEG Layer-3 wave format

I have spent hours trying to get dbpoweramp to work for me with converting mp3s to waves and it will not work. I even spent 3 hours on Saturday at a computer shop and a computer tech tried to help me although he didn't know your software real well. Could it be my download link is incomplete. I have my settings exactly like my friends who uses dbpoweramp to convert successfully and when I convert any mp3 to a wave file it comes back the size 70 bytes which won't play. Doesn't matter what mp3 i try to convert they all come back that size, thinking maybe this is a clue for a wrong setting. I did finally get the mpeg layer-3 dropdown on compressed to show so the settings are compressed, MPEG layer-3 and the attributes are set at 56kBit/s, 22.050Hz, Stereo, 6kb/sec. I changed the attributes to 5 different settings and still got back a wave at 70 bytes.
Any help would be appreciated, I don't want to give up in making dbpoweramp work for me.

Re: Trying to convert mp3 format to MPEG Layer-3 wave format

The wave-mp3 option has now been fixed:

To maintain registration status, install over the existing R15 registered. Download: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/beta/dMC-r15.1-beta.exe Changes: changed the overwrite page so works on non-standard windows (onshow was called twice) can enter a dynamic naming string > 1000 chars acquire from scanner, works on 64 bit system

(install over the top of your existing version without uninstall first to preserve registration status).
