FDK aac encoder doesn't encode to HE-AAC (aac+)

Hi,

I am trying to encode wav input to m4b, 80 kbit/s, HE-AAC (v1) using the HE-AAC option of the FDK encoder. An m4b file is produced, but not in HE-AAC ( Itunes file property says it's a low complexity AAC). Encoding the same wav file directly in Itunes, 80kbits, HE-AAC, the file properties in Itunes say "high complexity".

So I am wondering what I did wrong. I would really like to do the conversions with dbc since most of the input is already in flac.

HE-AAC is represented as LC SBR (low complexity spectrum band replication), and the HE v2 would give a LC SBR PS (Parametric Stereo).

I am not sure why iTunes writes a HC file (hi complexity), because that is not part of the HE or HE v2 spec, see:
