convert video audio file into audio only

I´m trying to convert the audio from a video file (mpeg) into an audio file only (mp3). I tried with dBpowerAMP and it works, but the original 10 minutes file was converted in an 8 minutes file and sounds faster as the original.

Is any way with this program to make this convertion? If not, could you suggest any free-download program to do taht?

You have a few options here.

What probbaly happens using dBPowerAmp is that the audio file is probably at a lower frequency than the normal MP3 output of dBPowerAmp, hence why the resulting file is faster.

You could use something like TMPG to demux the video file (giving you separate files for audio and video). And you would be done at this step, also avoiding the step of transcoding.

check out www.doom9.org they've got links to the tools you need to get the audio out of your video file.

Or, simply go get TMPGenc and download it. (Press CTRL-F and enter TMPGenc as a search string)

Once installed, look through the menus, you will find an option for MPEG Tools.. Then go to simple demuxing tab and it should be self-explanatory.

I have some videos in WMV I would like to convert into MPEG, and also take the audio in an MP3. How could I do that?

For WMV audio extraction and transcoding to MP3 go here and have a read through the guide. All the needed tools are easily obtainble from that very same site.

As for WMA to MP3, fo to Codec Central and make sure you download both the WM9 System Codec and the Codec release, then transcode as you normally would any other audio file.

Keep in mind though that some WMA files avec copy protected.

How could I can do? With the previous programs you suggest I couldn´t find the way.

Well for Real Audio Movies I must admit I have no idea at all.

But, for Real Audio audio-only files, you can install the codec for Real Audio from the codec central. Just make sure you also have Real Audio Player 8 installed too (might work with a more recent version, not sure)

Go to www.doom9.org then go in the download section.

Search for VirtualDub and download it (It's in the AVI Editing Tools section). Make sure you are not downloading a package, but really just VirtualDub (I think the package is called GordianKnot).

Then, once you have installed VirtualDub, ignore all the warnings it gives out. Then, open your AVI file (FILE/Open AVI).

Once your file is opened, go into the AUDIO menu and make sure it's on "FULL PROCESSING MODE".

Then, go to FILE/SAVE WAV... and save the WAV file!

From there, you can encode it to any format using dBPowerAmp.

For your .ram, .ra files, you may be best off using a program like Advanced MP3/WMA Recorder which will record the audio as an MP3 as its playing/streaming. Get it at www.xaudiotools.com

i used the TMPGenc software to convert the audio from a video file (mpeg) to an audio file. i want to make an audio cd of the audio file i converted. however, when i tried to burn an audio cd, it didn't work. what am i doing wrong?

i got a Q, how can i convert mpeg to mp3, i tryied poweramp and it didnt work, it just said that it was an unsupported file and that i have to come to the website to d/l it, but when i come here it says that its a supported file, so im like wtf, the extension on my file is .mpeg, and the one it says is already with dbpoweramp is .mpg, is this a problem? and plus if their is just a problem with my file is their another program i can use, cause doom9.org dosnt have the tools anymore, they must've taken it off

Convert Movie File (mpeg) to avi

Hey,

How can i convert a file with this format 'Movie File (mpeg)' to .avi so i can split it? I read somewhere that videos in that format cannot be split. Is this true? I have tried multiple programs but none work.

I would try EO Video to convert RM video to wav and then go from there.
