    Audiobook ripping, something's changed.

I am a bit of a beginner with dbpoweramp but have been ripping audiobooks for years.
    • First time I ripped something with DB Poweramp I got a nice dialogue box asking how many processors I wanted to use.
    • Also, there were three different choices for codecs for .m4b
    • Plus, the .m4b is not ripping to the correct bitrate. I set 64 kbps and it ripped to 55 kbps (ot was not VBR)

Now, with dbPoweramp 15 Reference, I am not getting that.

Conversion of a book from wav to .m4b takes much longer than with several other converters I know of.
But I am aware that dbPoweramp is the most highly regarded.

Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

I used version 14 earlier, on a different machine. Now, version 15 on Win 8, 65 bit.

I am also interested in learning more about the Nero AAC encoder and what role it plays in the process. dbPoweramp asks for it ahead of the rip. But the codec that seems to be used right now is fdkaac.exe.
    The Nero codec is neroAACenc.exe

    Super grateful for any advise!

Perhaps you were using different software?

dBpoweramp would never ask how many processors to use, it would automatically use all cores.

The Nero Codec has been replaced by the FDK AAC encoder, see codec central for the new codec.
