    PerfectTUNES & dBpoweramp don't agree

PerfectTUNES tells me that I've accurately ripped a CD to FLAC, but when I try to convert it to MP3 with dBpoweramp, I keep getting the errors "Error converting to mp3 (Lame)" and "md5 did not match decoded data, file is corrupt."

The song converts and seems to play just fine. Could this be because I've used Mp3tag to embed the album art into the FLAC files and modify the tags?

It is hard to say what corrupted the FLAC file, try this:

remove the album from your music folders, start perfecttunes, then close perfect tunes (so the album is removed). Then put the album back and start perfecttunes, see what it reports when it rescans the files.
