    still learning

I have a few general questions that hopefully will have easy answers.

CD's that show to have a great deal of errors and take forever to rip play without any notable sound quality issues when listening to the disc in the CD player. Some of the seemingly worst cases have problems being played back via the PC disc drive but not on the Pioneer CD player.

Ripping speed varies with some CD's. is that a product of the drive or the quality of the CD? A few times if I restart the rip process to overwrite the tracks with errors while the drive is still spinning at a good speed the tracks rip without any errors. Is this to be expected, or is this a an irregularity of the program?

Any helpful explanations, in layman's terms please, will be greatly appreciated. As I said I am still learning the ripping process and I would like to achieve the best results possible the first time through.

    Re: still learning

When a CD is inserted the drive reads the very end of the CD to test the quality then sets its internal speed, so is dependent on CD drive and CD disc.
