    Transcoding/Reencoding

I need to transcode or reencode some of my mp3s to lower bitrates so that I can fit more songs on my mp3 player and was wondering what produced the best quality at 80 kbps. Yes I know that you should never transcode/reencode but I wanted to find out which were the lesser of the evils.

    1. Transcoding from mp3 to wma.
    2. Reencoding mp3 to mp3.
    3. Transcoding mp3 to vorbis (my mp3 player does not support vorbis but I was just curious.)

When I transcode to lower bitrates for my MP3 player, I usually do it to WMA, as I find WMA sounds better at lower bitrates.

And honnestly, I find that MP3 just sounds like crap at low bitrates.

I don't know about Vorbis, I've never tried it at low bitrates and anyway my MP3 player doesn't support it.
