24bit WAV file to MP3 copression

Hi,
I want to know how dBpoweramp encodes a 24bit WAV file intro an mp3, it does it directly or down-sampled to 16bits first and then encoded ?

It will send 24 bits into the mp3 encoder.

dBpower amp use "lame_enc.dll" or "lame.exe" to encode Lame mp3 ?

How does the program read the percentage of encoded file from the lame.exe output ? I am trying myself to write a Lame GUI... and I don't know how to read output data from the lame.exe.

We use stdin and feed the data ourselves, knowing exactly the % encoded.
