Converting from M4A to MP3 speeding up track

Hiya - I have Music Converter 14.4. I have an M4a recording taken on an iPhone using the "Voice Memo" function. Playing the M4a is fine, but whenever I convert it to MP3 the resulting recording is half the length and twice the speed. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I've tried all combinations of settings I can think of. The same thing happens if I convert it to other formats too. I've never had any hassles before. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit

If you hold the mouse over the m4a file, the popup info tip which is shown by dbpoweramp, does it show the sample rate correct?
