    I converted an mp3 file with itunes 10.1.1

    I converted an mp3 file with itunes 10.1.1 and now it convert mp3 files with lame3.98r. I want to encode it with Itunes 10.1.1 again and I don't know how to do it.

        The mp3 encoder in iTunes is no where near as good as the one as used by Lame, there would be little reason to convert mp3 >> mp3.

          As a general rule, you should not convert lossy formats if you can avoid it. You will never regain quality, and you are at risk of audible artifacts even at higher bitrates than would otherwise be transparent.
