modify strings right to left

When batch converting I'd like to delete the last four characters from the original filepath. I'm using [origpath][] but I'm converting from FLAC directories to mp3, and they all end in "... - FLAC" and I'd like to trim that and replace it with mp3. Is there a way to delete the last four characters of the directory name?

There isn't a function to get the string length? From what little programming I've done, I remember that kind of function is usually built in for this type of thing.
