    DMC bugs with WindowsXP...again

I have just started running DMC on WinXP. Music converter no longer functions after I uninstalled the Monkey's Audio codec. Every time I right click on 'Convert T' I get a "Unable to create compression CODEC 'Monkeys Audio', please check software installation" error. Audi CD Input will not attempt to read the cd tracks. How do I reslove these issues? Thanks in advance.

Which version of dMC are you using? If you are using Release 10 beta 7 a problem has already been reported regarding the removal of codecs.
Did you last use dMC to convert a file to Monkey Audio? If that was the case, to correct the problem:

    1. Reinstall the Monkey Audio codec.
    2. Use dMC to convert a file to any format other than Monkey Audio.
    3. Uninstall Monkey Audio and dMC should be okay.

Anyone know if this bug has been fixed in beta 8?

This is a known bug that I reported a little while ago.

There is a known workaround. Just reinstall the Monkey Audio codec, then do a conversion to wave or mp3. Then uninstall Monkey Audio Codec again and everything will be fine.

What happens is Music Converter defaults to the last codec used, so you probably used Monkey Audio the last time you converted something and since you now removed it, DMC tries to open the monkey codec and can't find it, hence the crash. Doing a conversion to wave or mp3 will make dmc default to a codec that is built in and won't make it crash.

It was fixed in Beta 8, but this might be something else if using Audio CD Input - select the menu next to 'Rip' and set the Rip To method.
