HELP! - Converting WMA to FLAC

Can anyone please help with this?

I have over 4000 songs that I ripped from CD to Windows Media that were all saved as WMA files . Unfortunately my updated Sonos OS does not support wma files (crazy fekin decision if you ask me!!) Anyway I found out that dbpoweramp was an excellent way to bulk transfer wma files to a file that would be compatible with Sonos, to save me having to re-RIP everything (which would be a monumental pain in the arse!!)

So I bought the dbpoweramp online, downloaded the codec that lets you view wma files, selected my music library and all files within and sat back waiting for the results.

To my frustration, dbpoweramp has came back with an error message that the wma files were "protected" and it could not convert them!!! aaaarrrggghhh!!

has anyone came across this before and if so is there a way round it?

your help would be much appreciated

    Cheers

Did you really apply DRM to your own WMA files?

Are wma files lossless? If so, use windows media to convert old wma files to new wma files but unselect the drm (or whatever the protected status is called) option.

Once the files are DRM protected, nothing 'legal' will convert them, certainly not dbpoweramp

Had no idea it was being applied, didn't even know it existed!
